MotherBee 6 by *amphista Having created a few ceramic works myself, I know how difficult and time consuming it is to do this type of work. I really like the idea of incorporating honeycomb and the body of a pregnant woman. The piece is very inviting, it welcomes you to look around the entire Sculpture. I think the piece is also open to different interpretations. My interpretation is that the piece is showing how similar bees and humans are. Bees help bring flowers to life just as mothers do. -- My interpretation? It shows a nice balance within one's self. There's a strong feminine exterior, but shows the capability of shouldering strong masculine issues on the interior as well. I love the folded bend in the arm, which you'll have to see in her Gallery. To me, the folded bend shows added wear and tear. Strain from having to endure alot, and coming through it with the greatest reward - the knowledge that you have great strength, and can birth that strength in others.
